There are many sides to DM. Did we meet? No doubt, but I can't put a face to your name. Re Sinclair. see here.

wow.
That's a pretty quick summary of an amazing time.
Did we meet?

The attempted takeover of the Straight was a weird moment in its history.
I understood at the time that these kinds of actions took place because people were thinking that a new era meant new rules, but most of the people just seemed jealous of Dan.
So strange that someone would get it into their head to take away another person's business, one that they had created and sustained through simple hard work and dedication.
Dan was always my hero, one of the most under-rated people in Vancouver.

The police tried hard to get him locked up. He had put everything on the line, and those were dangerous times.
Remember John Sinclair? Ten years in jail for giving a joint to an undercover agent. Ten years!
Once, as Dan and I and girlfriends were leaving a Jimi Hendrix concert the police surrounded him and Dan quickly tossed his last joint into the crowd. Cops never found it but took Dan away anyway.
Another time three police cars surrounded us just as we parked outside our home on 16th Ave.

Dan was and still is The Georgia Straight, one of the many things that came out of Vancouver and that we are all still proud of for having been lucky enough to be a part of.
